Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 is also known as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first EP, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 was released by Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she began to get the attention of her peers. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her debut tracks online in 2012. She released the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet, including her independently released single Bound. In 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album with the track "Sweat It Out" on July 21. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's music references. Then, later in the season, the music was circulating throughout Dreamville. On December 8th, that she'd been signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she sang with Cozz to record the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, she debuted her first EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening artist for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she performed as a guest artist on two tracks with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas' Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream off her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video which debuted on September 5. Then, in November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On the 13th of November she released two more singles: One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby made an appearance alongside Cole as part of her Creed II sound track on November 16. The 20th of February, 2019 the music video was released to accompany the track. It has already received 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. In December of 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
